Human vs Animal

Many advocate that we should take care of Human rights before considering the Animal rights.
I, for one, think that the Human spirit can only lift to universal respect of the human rights if we treat animals in the same respectful way.
In times like these, where the Human not only disrespects the Nature but also its equals, saying we should put Animal rights in a secondary role is only a subterfuge to keep the status quo that serves only the private interests of a minority that tends to tells us how to live.
It is my belief that we can only achieve unity if we treat the Nature as something as important as ourselves. Animals were here way before us, why should we treat them only in productive eyes? The way we treat them not only is hurtful to the Nature itself, but also to the behaviour we have to others like us. Torture, Lack of Basic Freedoms, Genocide, Race and Genre Persecution, Human Trafficking (yes, we even trade our own kind)... I just can't think of anything more beastful than that.
All this eventually leads me to think that we deserve more the adjective "animals" than the real ones...
